On the Corner is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis. It was recorded in June and July 1972 and released on October 11 of the same year by Columbia Records. The album continued Davis's exploration of jazz fusion, and explicitly drew on the influence of funk musicians Sly Stone and James Brown, the experimental music of Karlheinz Stockhausen, ideas by composer Paul Buckmaster, and the free jazz of Ornette Coleman. On the Corner is a studio album by jazz musician Miles Davis, recorded in June and July 1972 and released later that year on Columbia Records. Track list: Complete On The Corner Sessions - Miles Davis. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. The album On The Corner was completed by other sessions that Teo Macero put into shape, and it would become a cult album for the avant-garde of ambient and electro-jazz. Released in 1972, Miles Davis' album On the Corner packaged together music as contrversial as its cover art, drawn by Corky McCoy. An album cover art story. Few albums in the history of jazz created as much controversy as On the Corner, the album Miles Davis released in 1972. Stylistically, the music had very little to do with the jazz tradition, and was a departure from Davis already out-there jazz-rock explorations found on Bitches Brew and Live Evil, released a couple of years earlier. In that sense, Miles Davis from St. Louis by way of jazz and Carlos Santana from San Francisco by way of rock have a great deal more in common than either may realize. These are philosophical albums, if one may be permitted to apply that adjective to musical composition and performance. Miles album plays through almost without a pause even though the tracks are separated by bands. The groove runs quickly across the band or else the music continues into and out of it, I simply cant tell. Throughout the album, there is extensive use of a variety of rhythmic sounds. Another year, another indispensable Miles Davis box. This season's gift from ColumbiaLegacy is a 6xCD set of every track put to tape by Davis' revolving cast of players bewteen 1972-75. Miles Davis dropped jazz for good in late 1971- not that he'd been keeping up many appearances for the genre in several years.
