Notes

Testing pressings on 180-gram black vinyl. Quantity is unknown but is estimated to be around 20 in number. Some copies have plain white labels, others have text like "side A" printed on them. The test pressings have no sleeves, but have plain white inner sleeves with numbers written in black marker pen. The outer box is the same as the retail version. Most copies do not include inserts.

Interesting fact: this test pressing has white center label also on Side D (Side 2 of the 2nd vinyl) that is just empty with etchings, and the standard release does not have (and are not supposed to have) that.

Album

The Ape of Naples is the final studio album by English experimental group Coil. The album was the definitive effort of primary Coil musician Peter Christopherson, who compiled material from 1993 to 2004 to reassemble and rework it into a coherent final album. It was produced and released following the death of co-lead artist and lead vocalist John Balance, who died on November 13, 2004. The title of the album was originally intended to be Fire of the Mind. The New Backwards is an album by Coil released on April 18, 2008. The album is reworked from the Backwards demo, which was originally created for Nothing Records. The New Backwards was produced by Peter Christopherson and Danny Hyde, and is reworked from the Backwards demo, which was submitted to Torso Records in 1993 and then further recorded at Trent Reznor's Nothing Studios in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the mid-1990s for a planned release on Reznor's Nothing Records imprint on major label. The Ape of Naples. 60 million songs. Three months on us. It is often said that The Ape of Naples is heavily dominated by electronics, from the instrumentation to the digital manipulation of John Balance's vocals, as such as in Heaven's Blade, which creatively time-stretches and obscures Balance's vocal over a glitchy beat or in It's In My Blood, where the use of time-stretching adds an air of. The instrumentation of the album is one of its assets, thanks in no part to regular Coil collaborators Thighpaulsandra, Cliff Stapleton and Tom Edwards, who assisted Peter Sleazy Chistopherson in creating the gloomy vibe that permeates the songs of The Ape of Naples. Featured New Releases. Often noted for being a fan favorite, The Ape Of Naples uses Balance's final recordings. PAUL LLOYD's REVIEW :: Just over a year after the tragic death of Jhonn Balance, Coil released their last ever studio album. Compiled from tracks recorded in the last few days before his death and from the Coil archive, The Ape of Naples consists of both new tracks and radical reworking of older tracks by Coil co-founder Peter Sleazy Christopherson himself.
